| Sports Pitch Construction |

Initial
Survey Prior to the start of any all weather pitch construction project,
Prestige recommend that a geo-technical survey is undertaken to establish ground
conditions. A unique project specification is then prepared. This ensures that
the sports pitch will be safe to use, hard-wearing and will have the required
playing characteristics*. Care is taken to maximise the financial return on the
pitch through design and flexibility and all pitches comply with the Disability
Discrimination Act. *Please
note that planning approval will be required for new builds, floodlighting and
some reburbishments. |
Drainage
Efficient and effective drainage is of primary importance in the construction
of any all weather sports pitch. Prestige's 25 years experience of drainage projects
will guarantee expert preparation of the site. There are two types of drainage:
perimeter and herring-bone. Depending on soil conditions, one or both are used.
Surface water will drain away to prevent flooding and any excess water will drain
from the sub-base to preserve structural integrity. |

Dynamic
Base Once
the site has been prepared and the drainage installed, an inert, frost-proof sub-base
will be constructed. 'Unbound' is the cheapest of the two options. It uses graded
or selected aggregates, loose-laid to allow for localised movement and constructed
to highways specification. 'Engineered' bases are more rigid and avoid the deterioration
in surface quality that can happen over time through localised movement. They
require a shock pad to increase the dynamic performance of the pitch. |
Shockpad
The shock pad is an elastic layer of expanded polyethylene which sits
between the grass surface and the underlying sub base. It avoids the surface compacting
so quickly and becoming harder, thereby adding to the dynamic performance of the
pitch. A shock pad is generally used with the more rigid engineered base. |

Artificial
Sports Turf
There is a very wide choice of artificial
sports turf and consequently a huge variation in cost,
dependent on the type of sport and the level at which it
is to be played. Our turf suppliers are all accredited and
their products are stringently tested to ensure that they
conform to all current requirements and tolerances. We follow
FA and FIH recommended testing regimes and use only test
houses that have been accredited by FIFA, FIH, UEFA or UKAS.
|
Infill
The infill used in artificial turf carpets is made from granulated rubber, a rubber/sand
mix or, a more recent innovation, plastic pellets. Prestige Civil Engineering
is very aware of environmental concerns regarding the potential leaching of rubber
contaminants and it endeavours, wherever possible, to use only virgin rubber,
produced specifically for granulation. | |

Infrastructure
Prestige offer a complete turn-key package which includes advice and supply of
all your infrastructure e.g. flood lighting, sports fencing, netting, re-bound
walls, goal posts, line-painting, car parking, pedestrian access, changing facilities
etc. We
also advise on the maintenance requirements of your all weather pitch. |
| We
specialise in sports pitches for schools and colleges and we offer turn-key packages
to suit your budget. If you would like a free quotation or further information,
